Hi, I’m Jacquie, founder and primary consultant of The Guided Child.

Since graduating from The University of Sydney in 2002, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with various specialists in countries from Australia, United Kingdom, Philippines, India, Indonesia and currently Singapore.

My understanding of supporting a child has been shaped from close working relationships with; occupational therapists, clinical and educational psychologists, paediatricians, audiologists, classroom and special education teachers, play therapists, ABA therapists, behavioural optometrists and principals in settings such as; international schools, inter-disciplinary clinics, paediatric practices, school admission departments and hospitals.

Through these working relationships, I have developed a complete appreciation for a ‘team approach’ when it comes to allied health and education. I have seen and experienced first-hand how they can interact and complement each other for holistic progress.

I’ve also observed the remarkable impact the right ‘child-therapist’ match can have on a child’s progress. So much so that I have a saying that sometimes; “It’s not the therapy – it’s the therapist”.

Just as each child is unique, each therapist is also unique. Although each therapist in a profession has a university qualification, each of us have different specialisations and different experience. For best-practice and quality therapy, a good ‘child – therapist’ match (for the child’s current need) is ideal.

I’m the mother of three beautiful children and have had multiple international moves of my own, so I’m uniquely placed to understand the ‘big picture’ for children and families settling in to Singapore.

My specialist areas are dyspraxia, early and school-aged language, literacy, learning difficulties, early stuttering and adult accent modification.
