Case Study – 10-year-old Luna & 8-year-old Chase

‘Relocation Case Management’

The Story…

Luna and Chase ( brother and sister) were going through diagnostic assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, anxiety and sensory challenges.  Both children saw multiple professionals in Singapore and parents wanted help finding suitably qualified  and equivalent professionals in Australia, so the children could continue on their positive projection.  Parent needed help finding a suitable school ( with appropriate support), speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychological and medical services that were suitable to their children’s individual needs.

The outcome…

After understanding each child’s individual profile and current therapeutic and schooling plan and projections in Singapore, the research began. Using various contacts, research and meetings with Australian school admissions departments, Principals and therapists, were shortlisted and presented to the family for consideration. Introductions were made to aid intake of the parents chosen direction. When the family moved to Australia, the children were already enrolled in their school and parents had shortlists of therapeutic inputs to meet and investigate further in person.

With both my children requiring support, I was feeling overwhelmed about the number of decisions I needed to make about speech therapists, occupational therapists and psychologists. Searching Facebook groups gave plenty of recommendations but I couldn’t figure out which would be the right ones for myself and my children’s specific needs. I didn’t want to waste time and money having to ’trial’ specialists to find the best fit. Jacquie sat down with me to fully understand each child’s unique profile and came up with a tailored set of options. Jacquie was incredibly easy to work with and helped me not only identify the most suitable therapists for us, but also which to prioritise when it was feeling too much. Jacquie’s support was invaluable - having someone who is experienced in this field, in addition to understanding things from a mother’s point of view, was reassuring at a time when I needed it most.
